There has been much disagreement as to what constitutes the centre of pauline theology.

…the New Covenant theme itself will constitue one of Paul’s principal theological concerns. In this chapter, we suggest that this theme does not simply stand alongside other themes in Paul’s theology; rather, other themes are expressly or implicitly related to it as to the comprehensive expression of his understanding of the salvation deed itself.^p.45
